Morton Elwood ‘Woody’ Russell

Nov. 1, 1940 - Feb. 19, 2013

Morton Elwood “Woody” Russell, 72, Lafayette, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at IU Health, Lafayette. He was born on Nov. 1, 1940, in Coldwater, Mich., to Morton T. And Mary O. (Young) Russell. Woody married Mary Ann (Harmon) Russell in Kokomo on June 13, 1960, and she survives.

Woody worked for Chrysler Corp. for 22 years, 20 years with Caterpillar Inc. and retired in March 2002. In 1959 he graduated from Bunker Hill High School. He loved to golf and to read books. Woody loved his family, IU, Colts, and Detroit Tigers baseball. He also loved his dogs, movies, wildlife and birds.

Survivors include wife, Mary Ann Russell; daughters, Tacy Ann (Dean) Kline, Trina Renaa (Steve) Stuller; brother, Charles (Mary) Bagley, Mexico, Ind.; sister, Naydine Simonds, Orange Conn., Beth White, Bunker Hill; granddaughter, Nicolette Lei (Paul Wilson) Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morton and Mary Russell, and brother, Franklin E. Bagley.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Scott Mann officiating the funeral service. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery. Friends may call from  2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Riley Hospital for Children or St. Jude Partners in Hope. Online condolence may be left at www.stoutandson.com.

    Denver R. Walker, 61, Kokomo, formerly of Ridge Farm, Ill., passed away at 6:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Century Villa Health Care. He was born Nov. 1, 1951, in Danville, Ill., the son of Denver Ralph and Sarah (Walthall) Walker. On June 7, 1997, he married Cynthia L. “Cindy” Hultz from Veedersburg, and she survives him.

    Christine “Granny” “Mother Goose” Cornelia Ligon, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Baron Plain, Tenn., the daughter of the late Tommy and Laura (Turner) King. On July 21, 1934, Christine married Timothy Calvin Ligon Jr. and they were happily married until his passing on Nov. 3, 1956.
