Homer Claude Richardson

Kokomo — Homer Claude Richardson, 87, Kokomo, formerly of Peru, passed away at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. He was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Livermore, Ky., to Claude Lawson and Lula (Williams) Richardson. On Dec. 29, 1945, he married Juanita French, who preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2007.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Nov. 18, 1942, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 28, 1945.

Homer was a furniture maker who could look at a finished product and know how the frame was built. He was employed by Murphy-Miller Chair Co. in Owensboro, Ky., Tell City Chair Co. in Tell City, and Jackson Chair Co. in Danville, Ky. He retired in 1991 as plant superintendent for Guildcrest Furniture Industries Inc. in Peru.

He was also a member of Paws and Taws Square Dance Club and various bowling leagues. His hobbies included gardening, candy making, woodworking and word finds.

He is survived by sons, Tom (Jane) Richardson, Kokomo, and Travis (Connie) Richardson, Evansville; a grandson, Erik Richardson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Lindsey (fiancee Casey Jackson) Richardson, Evansville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; nine sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home, 900 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Ky., with Rev. Dale Hartlein officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the Owensboro Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
