Paul Joseph 'Mick' Kline

Paul Joseph “Mick” Kline, 75, Lafayette, passed into eternal life at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at IU Arnett Hospital. He was born in Kokomo on Nov. 27, 1937, the son of George O. and Marie M. (Amick) Kline. He attended grade school at St. Patrick’s and high school at Our Lady of the Lake Seminary in Syracuse, Ind.

Enlisting on the day after his 18th birthday in 1955, he served 21 years in the United States Air Force. During his time in the service, he was assigned to Randolph AFB in Texas, Eilson AFB in Alaska, Grissom AFB in Bunker Hill, and Strategic Air Command at Offutt AFB in Nebraska. Before his retirement in 1976, he was promoted to Senior MSGT and was awarded the Meritorious Service Award.

After his retirement from the military, he was employed as a management engineer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. He also worked in system management and became a senior systems analyst in the 15 years that he served the hospital. Paul was highly skilled in woodworking, and enjoyed fishing, traveling and time with family and friends during his retirement.

Mick is survived by his wife, Dr. Anne Marie Williams; a brother, Patrick and his wife, Maggie; four daughters, Michelle and her husband, Paul Dinges, Annie Fleming, Margie Jankowski and Maria Colello; two sons, Damian and his wife, Rose Kline, and David Kline; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and niece Missy Kline.

He was preceded in death by his parents and then his brother, Fr. Charles Kline, in 2005.

Rather than flowers, please consider donating to the Disabled American Veterans in Mick’s memory or the tuition assistance fund for St. Joan of Arc and Patrick School. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., Kokomo, with a memorial service at 6 p.m. with Fr. Gene Schroeder officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Celebrant Bishop William L. Higi. Mick will be buried at 11 a.m. Thursday, with full military honors in the National Cemetery on the VA grounds in Marion.
