Helen C. Laudenschlager

Helen Catherine Laudenschlager, 88, Kokomo, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 4, 2012, at her home.

She was born March 21, 1924, in Deer Creek Township of Miami County, the daughter of the late Grover Allen and Hazel Aleta (Havens) Rhinebarger. She married Ralph Eric Laudenschlager Oct. 8, 1948, and he preceded her in death June 9, 2004.

Helen was a graduate of Clay Township High School and Indiana Business College. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy Hospital Corps. She later worked for Delco Electronics and retired after 29 years of service. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, George (Joyce) Laudenschlager, Burnet, Texas, and Steve (Tina) Laudenschlager, Kokomo; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy (Christopher) Heflin, Kokomo; a daughter-in-law, Gretchen Laudenschlager, Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Brandi (Jeff) Roswog, Kokomo, Misty (Jeff) Higgins,

Bozeman, Mont., Heidi (Mark) Taylor, Kankakee, Ill., Cameron (Suni) Heflin, Roanoke, Va., Betsie (Blake) Reed, Indianapolis, Austin (Christina) Laudenschlager, Burnet, Texas, and Lora Laudenschlager, Kokomo; eight great-grandchildren, Madison Roswog, Cecilia Roswog, Lauren Higgins, Shane Higgins, Brooke Higgins, Emma Taylor, Ava Taylor and Courtland Reed; two sisters, Mary Jean Myers, Kokomo, and Janet (Ron) Dillman, Twelve Mile.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Laudenschlager; a granddaughter, Lacey Laudenschlager; two brothers, Robert Rhinebarger and Wayne Rhinebarger; two sisters, Rozella Rector and Pauline Mast.  

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington St., Kokomo, with Pastor David Leeder officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team and the United States Navy. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, and at the church one hour before the service.
