R. Marie Achors, 97, Kokomo, died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born Nov. 14, 1914, in Clinton County. On Feb. 22, 1935, in Kokomo, she married Herman D. Achors, who preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1997.
Marie was a 1932 graduate of Forest High School. She was a member of West Point Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith (Harold) Orr and Beverly (Boyd) Ashcraft, Kokomo; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Achors, Monticello; seven grandchildren, Melissa Orr (Rick Bailey), Sharpsville, Matthew Orr, Spencer, Greg (Christi) Achors, Fleming Island, Fla., Jeff (Kim) Achors, Kokomo, Darin (Michelle) Ashcraft, Lafayette, Stacey (Randy) Kammeyer, Ft. Wayne, and Darla (Chris) Ayers, Fishers; 15 great-grandchildren, Kayla (Ryan) Musson, Kody Orr, Kyle Achors, Konner Achors, Bryce Achors, Britney Achors, Bre-Ann Achors, Austin Ashcraft, Beau Ashcraft, Annalissa Kammeyer, Rachel Kammeyer, William Kammeyer, Brendan Ayers, Allison Ayers and Katherine Ayers; three great-great-grandchildren, Landen Musson, Kennedy Musson, and Briar Achors; one brother-in-law, Bill (Sue) Achors, Orlando, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Ina Long, Bellefontaine, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Janae Achors; one son, Kent Achors; four sisters, Ruth Wilkinson, Pauline Blazer, Mae Chezem and Vernal Phipps; and one brother, Ellsworth Shoemaker.
The family wishes to thank Waterford Place Health Campus and Guardian Angel Hospice for the wonderful care they gave their mother and grandmother.
Services are at noon Saturday at Stout and Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Darrin Miracle officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
