Alga L. Prather, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 1:17 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born July 30, 1928, in Cass County, to the late William Alga and Mabel Marie (Titus) Prather. He first married Betty (Knettle); she preceded him in death. In 1968, he married Donna J. (Wisehart) and she survives.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1946 and retired in 1987 from Chrysler after 38 years of service in skilled trades. He loved to play golf and watch sports. During the winter months he spent time in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Prather, Kokomo; children, Kim K. Prather, California, Debra A. Wilder, Kokomo, Randall Alspaugh, Kokomo, Rhonda Wisehart, Kokomo, and Rita Owens, Peru; two grandchildren, Adrian Wilder, Portland, Ore., and Aaron Wilder, California; one great-grandchild; stepgrandchildren, Kerry, Elijah, Shanna, Cory, Amanda, Cara, Chris and Cameryn; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; two nieces, Rose Ann and husband Rex Fowler, and Vickie Justice; and five great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Barry Prather; and one sister.
The family would like to say thank you to the nurses and staff on the second floor of Howard Regional Health System, and also thank you to Dr. Hussain for all his help.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Dale T. Bliss officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
