Leonard E. Mote, 84, Kokomo, died at 10:46 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Kokomo, the son of Orville J. and Nellie Lucretia (Loveless) Mote.
On Jan. 1, 1949, he married Sharon S. (Hollingsworth) Mote, who preceded him in death Aug. 9, 2010.
He retired from PPG Industries in 1991 after 35 years of service. He had also worked at Continental Steel.
He graduated from Kokomo High School and served in the Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the 63rd Infantry Division, where he received two Bronze stars.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Cedar Crest Bowling League. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, and he also enjoyed his grandchildren and their events.
Survivors include his children, Rick Harris and wife Janet, Marlene Dowden and husband Jim, Larry Mote and wife Kim, David Mote and wife Sue, Ron Mote and wife Carrie, Rita Bretl and husband Jim, and Jimmy Mote and wife Tish; 31 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and his four-legged child, his dog Sugar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers Raymond, Howard, and Wilder; and a sister, Minnie Alice Nelson.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stout and Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St. Russiaville. Pastor Joseph Quiles will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military rites to follow by the Kokomo Military Rites Team. Friends may call from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
