Florence “Flo” Ola Byers, 72, Kokomo, passed away at 3:13 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Community Howard Regional Hospital.

Flo was born on July 10, 1940, in Guthrie, Ky., the daughter of Jess Davis and Essie Mae Pinex. On Sept. 4, 1956, she united in holy matrimony to Samuel Kendrick Byers. Of this union, one daughter was born, Vicki Byers Hunt (Joel Hunt).

Flo had six siblings, four sisters and two brothers. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Kendrick Byers; daughter, Vicki Byers Hunt (Joel); two sisters, Margaret Payne and Lavern Hall, all of Kokomo; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Marcia Waldon and Mykelle Kenner; two very, very special friends, Sheila Smith and Maggie Patterson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Lonnie Anderson will be the officiant and eulogist. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bluitt & Son Funeral Home.
