Alice Elizabeth Chaplin

July 7, 1930 - Nov. 23, 2012

Kokomo — Alice Elizabeth Chaplin, 82, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at 5:12 p.m. at Golden Living Center from a long-term illness. She was born July 7, 1930, to Robert and Clara Spencer.

Alice was a very kind and caring woman and always helped others with love and dignity. Even though her body was failing her, she gave love and guidance to all. She had a heart of gold.

Alice will always be remembered as a loving mother to all her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She worked for the March of Dimes, helping the sick, and also at the Kokomo Hearing Center and the Area Five Agency.

She is survived by her sons, Richard G. Chaplin II, Dennis Garrett, and Barry Garrett; daughters, Diana Chaplin Coomer and Yvonne Chaplin Black; grandsons, Ethan Davie Lee Chaplin, Brendon Croddy, Nick Garrett, Chris Garrett, Barry Garrett and Cody Key; granddaughters, Bridget Featherstone, Gina Garrett Key, Cara Pettit, Sarah Reese, Susan Garrett Hamilton, Kayli Croddy, Maryanne Garrett and Amanda Delon; sister, Clara Feidler; and brothers, Leo Spencer and Pat Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Davie Lee Chaplin, and her son, Davie Lee Chaplin II.

Family and friends are invited to a remembrance gathering for Alice from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at 907 Miami Blvd., at the home of her son, Richard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Father Joshua Bennett officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
