John R. Emry I

John R. Emry I, 72, Kokomo, died at 7:05 pm. Dec. 8, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born on Feb. 28, 1940, to Virgil Emry and Helen (Bone) Peterson in Kokomo. John married Alice Beauchamp, who survives, and remarried Patricia (Miller) Emry on June 17, 1987, in Covington, Ky.

John loved fishing at Mississinewa Lake, Salamonie Reservoir, Wabash River or wherever there was water. He also liked to hunt and tinker with cars. John was a people person and everyone liked him.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Emry; daughter, Angie (James) Hopson, Kokomo; four sons, John Emry II, Kokomo, James (Camille) Emry, Fisher, Ill., William Emry, Kokomo, Jason (Kim) Emry, Knob Noster, Mo.; two stepchildren, Christina (Bobby) Williams, Battle Ground, Cindy (Ron) Jernagan, Attica; three sisters, Phillis Conrad, Kokomo, Laura Keith, Walton, Wuanita (Don) Erickson, Kokomo; a brother, William Emry, Illinois; grandchildren, seven in Indiana, four in Illinois, two in Missouri; two great-grandchildren in Indiana and two great-grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Curt Emry.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shirley & Stout, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St., with the Rev. Charles Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., the start of funeral services. Burial will follow the services at Memorial Park Cemetery.
