Helen P. Bond

July 1, 1923 - Feb. 19, 2013

Helen P. Bond, 89, Kokomo, passed away at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born July 1, 1923, in Sims to M. Earl Jarvis and Ida P. (McLain) Jarvis. She was a 1941 graduate of Kokomo High School. On June 10, 1944 in Alexandria, La., she married Kenneth D. Bond. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1996. 

She was an accountant with Bond and Lesher C.P.A. office, retiring in 1983. She recently worked for Our Friends Closet for several years. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Genesis Sunday School Class, volunteered in many ways for church functions and found joy through helping people in any way she could. 

Survivors include one son, James K. (Belinda) Bond, Indianapolis; three daughters, Linda Henry, Julia Bond, and Carol Henry, all of Kokomo; nephew, Keith (Tanna) Bond, Fortville; one sister, Ramona C. Slaughter, Galveston; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Jerry) Markins, Robert (Nicky) Henry, Matthew Henry, Nicholas (Jodi) Clark, Bobby (Jessie) Taylor, Rachel (Jack) Duncan, and Ryan Bond. There are also 15 great-grandchildren, Shelby Markins, Christi Markins, Abigail Markins, Kylie Markins, Kate Carter, Kaleb Carter, Chase Bond, Katie Taylor, Domonick Taylor, Mackenzie Taylor, Bobby Taylor Jr., Bryant Duncan, Braden Duncan, Ashley Duncan and Aubrey Duncan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Charles Jarvis, Roy Jarvis and Manford (Bill) Jarvis;, and sisters, Maxine Coffman, Rheba Doak, Alice Bivens and Jessie Ancil.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Main Street United Methodist Church, 830 S. Main St., Kokomo. Pastor Nancy Blevins will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, and one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. 

Memorials may be directed to Main Street United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary and the church. You may read the Bond obituary at www.ellersmortuary.com, where you can sign the guestbook, order flowers or share a personal message to the family.
