Mr. Donnie Ray Watkins Sr., 51, Kokomo, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at St. Vincent Seton Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born on Aug. 22, 1960, the son of John T. Watkins Sr. and Cora B. Ligon Watkins in Clarksville, Tenn.
He was employed for 23 1⁄2 years as a tow motor driver for Chrysler Corp. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church and UAW 685.
He is survived by his son, Donnie Ray Watkins Jr.; sisters, Sally M. Watkins, Martha L Watkins and Amanda F. Cannon, all of Kokomo, Mary Dennis Cambell and Karen Dennis Cambell; brothers, William E. Garrett and Curtis (Earlean) Garrett Jr., all of Clarksville, Tenn., and James N. Garrett, George H. (JoAnne) Garrett and Henry L. Garrett, all of Kokomo, stepson, Abel Ligon, and stepdaughter, Joyce Ligon, both of Kissimmee, Fla.; close friend, Reginald W. Graham; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.
His parents and one brother, Calvin Watkins, preceded him in death.
Services are noon Saturday at Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 1599 E. Sycamore St. Pastor Lonnie Anderson will be the officiant and eulogist. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
