— Jane Elizabeth (Doubek) Gainer, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Community Howard Regional Health. Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Otis Julian Doubek and Sue (Rugeley) Doubek. On Jan. 25, 1946, in Bay City, Texas, she married Taylor Gainer. He preceded her in death in 1981.

She was a homemaker. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 52 years, retiring in 2006. She then was a Cub Scout leader for two years. She was a member of the Good Sams Club, Howard County Home Extension Club, Sweet Adelines Singing Club and had been a member of Main Street United Methodist Church since 1964.

Survivors include three daughters, Julie G. (Frank) Catt, Kokomo, Sue G. Wilson, Nashville, Tenn., and Nan G. (Rick) Crites, Spraggs, Pa.; three grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Bolin, Elena Wilson and Amanda Crites; six great-grandchildren, Kathryn Bolin, Marian Bolin, Erin Bolin, Nathan Pate, Sarah Catt and Benjamin Catt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one grandson, John Surface.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo. Pastor Nancy Blevins will officiate. Burial will follow in North Union Cemetery, Howard County. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Memorials may be directed to the Girl Scouts, Main Street United Methodist Church, or Alzheimer’s Association, with envelopes available at the mortuary.
