Mary E. Shipley, 90, Kokomo, died Jan. 8, 2013, at Reflections. She was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Thorntown, the daughter of Jesse and Carrie (McKern) Ragsdale. She married Bill Shipley on Oct. 10, 1943, in Thorntown.
Mary obtained her master’s degree from Ball State. She was employed as a teacher at Northwestern High School, Sharpsville High School and Kokomo-Center Schools until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
In addition to education and spending time with her family, she enjoyed summer traveling, golf, playing bridge and spending winters in Florida after retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Shipley, Kokomo. She was extremely proud of their three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Janet Shipley, Kokomo, Eric and Deanna Shipley, and Kent and Bonnie Shipley, Westfield; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Her body will be cremated with ashes scattered at Arkon Cemetery. A memorial service, for the family only, will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo, IN 46901 or Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stout & Son Funeral Home in Russiaville.

Fred was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Kokomo, to the late Emmett and Dorothy (Clark) Bagwell. He graduated from Kokomo High School.
