Betty Willie M. Humphrey

Betty Willie M. Humphrey, 85, Kokomo, passed away Jan. 6, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Shubuta, Miss., to John W. and Onie Mae (Robinson) Cooley. Betty married Carol Dean Humphrey on Oct. 29, 1957, in Casper, Wyo., and he passed away on July 2, 1994.

Betty was a graduate of Shubuta (Miss.) High School. She worked as a P.N. for 30 years. Betty was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was a member of Highway Aide by Radio Truck “HART.” Betty went on a missionary trip with the Southern Baptist Church. She loved to read books, her favorite was the Bible, and her passion was to garden and sew.

Survivors include daughters, Alice M. (Paul) Hoskins, Russiaville, Sally (Freddie) Ball, Laurel, Miss.; son, Paul E. Humphrey; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter in-law, Laura Humphrey, Elkhart; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Onie Cooley; husband, Carol Humphrey; sisters, Edna E. Duvall, Lillie M. Chapman; brothers, Homer and James Cooley.

Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Ken Freeland officiating, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden.
