Albert William VanNess

Albert William VanNess, 59, Kokomo, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 2, 1953, in Kokomo to the late Harry and Dortha (Miller) VanNess. On Oct. 1, 1971, in Kokomo, he married Dorothy “Dottie” (Freeman), and she survives.  

Albert retired Nov. 2, 2012, after 23 years of service from Lorentson Manufacturing as a foreman.  

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” VanNess, Kokomo; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann and Lee Pearson, Logansport, Debbie and Michael Kelly, Flora; son-in-law and a daughter-in-law, Brian and Melanie Stewart, Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Alli Stewart, A.J. Stewart, Michael Kelly, Brandon Kelly, Jacob Kelly, Jesse Kelly, Dylan Kelly, Samantha and Marcus Woolever, David Stewart, and Steven Stewart; one great-grandchild, Kholton Woolever; sister and a brother-in-law, Margaret and Michael McKinney, Sharpsville; sister, Wanda McKinney, Marion; sister; Mary Robinson, Shepherd, Mich.; brother and a sister-in-law, Harry and Mary VanNess, Kokomo; sister and a brother-in-law, Betty and Larry McKinney, Monon; sister and a brother-in-law, Victoria and David Carver, Lisle, Ill.; sister and a brother-in-law, Candy and Phillip Swisher, Kokomo; brother and a sister-in-law, Jerry and Tammy VanNess; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Russell, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Tim Freeman, Kokomo; extended family, Jodi and Tim Kendall, Florida, Michael and Patty Blackburn, Kokomo, Vicki Hudson, Kokomo, Susie McCain, Kokomo, Gerald and Peggy Harney, Kokomo; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.    

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deloris (Dee) Ann VanNess; sister, Josephine Smith; and extended parents, Vern and Shirley Williams.   

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Fred Standridge officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
