James Emmitt Young

James Emmitt Young, 52, Kokomo, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. James was born Oct. 12, 1960, in Kokomo, to Joseph L. Young and Marcia A. Gain. His mother preceded him in death.

James was co-owner of two family businesses, D&D Janitorial and D.J.P. Catering. He was also a Mason, Russiaville Lodge 82, and a member of Ibn Saud Grotto. He enjoyed NASCAR, cooking and hunting.

Survivors include two daughters, Jamie L. Pratt, husband Mike, and Jeannie Ann Altmaier, husband Bryan; his parents, Jerry and Paige Gain, and Joseph L. and Sharon Young; two brothers, David L. Young, wife Sara, Patrick A. Young, wife Pearl; four sisters, Rebecca S. Wolf, husband Daniel, Deanna A. Smith, husband Eric, Cheryl Arnett and Leanna Davis; four grandchildren, Emma, Caleb, Kolten and Skylar; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia A. Gain, and a nephew, Alex Shipp.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. There will be a Masonic service at 12:30 p.m. also at the mortuary prior to the service. Services will be at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Ruth Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
