— Elizabeth B. Francis, 102, Converse, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2013, at the Waterford Place Health Care, Kokomo.

She was born on June 9, 1910, in Converse, to the late Luther R. and Delpha (Jay) Gift. She lived most of her life in Converse, moving to Kokomo and then Tipton.

She was a 1929 graduate of Converse High School. On Dec. 6, 1930, she married Howard M. Francis, who preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1998.

She was a devout and active member of the Converse United Methodist Church, where she was the church historian and served on the administrative board. She was also a past president of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a 75-year member and Past Matron of Eastern Star. In her free time she enjoyed her membership in the Converse ESO Reading Club, crafts, gardening and working on projects.

Survivors include seven grandchildren, Scott H. Brown, Converse, Holly M. (George) Bellamy, Kokomo, Michael J. (Karen) Duncan, Dunlap, Ill., Elizabeth S. (Tony) LePere, Westfield, Debra (Brad) Eccles, Jasonville, Gregory (Michelle) Duncan, Noblesville, David J. (Sarah) Duncan, Indianapolis, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Shonnie D. Brown and Avalyn S. Jones. She was the youngest of six siblings, whom all preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Converse United Methodist Church, 109 E. Wabash St., Converse, with Pastor Don Bremerman officiating. Burial will be in the Converse Cemetery.
