Richard H. Sciaraffa

Sept. 19, 1945 - Feb. 7, 2013

— Richard Sciaraffa, 67, died at 6:33 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at his home in Kokomo. He was born Sept. 19, 1945 in Boston, Mass., the son of Biagio and Mary (Ficarra) Sciaraffa. On Oct. 26, 1982, he married Judith (Myers), and she survives him.

He was a 1963 graduate of East Boston High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969, attaining the rank of sergeant. He worked in the plastics lab at plant nine for Delco Electronics and retired in 2000, having worked there 30 years.

Richard was a member of the First Church of God, and had formerly attended Oakford Baptist Church (now Crossroads Community Church), where he taught kindergarten through third grade Sunday school from 1983 to 1998. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing and cooking Italian food.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; sons, Glenn Sciaraffa, Kokomo, Michael Baer Sciaraffa, Canada, Brian (Anissa) Brown, Kokomo; daughters, Jennifer Sciaraffa, Noblesville, Teri (Kevin) Rose, Kokomo, Anita Hall, Burlington, Kim Foster, Kokomo; brother, Anthony (Anna) Sciaraffa; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy; a sister; and one grandson, PFC Neil Simmons in 2007.  

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jerry Ausbrook and Pastor Jeff Harlow. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
