Edward J. Flynn

Dec. 5, 1933 - Feb. 12, 2013

Edward J.  Flynn, 79, passed away at 2:34 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Ed was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Litchfield, Ill., the son of George and Ruth (Wilson) Flynn.

He graduated from Western Illinois University and then worked for State Farm Life Insurance Co.

Ed married Judith Thompson on Nov. 22, 1958, in Macomb, Ill. She survives.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Rita Flynn, Bloomington, and Scott A. Flynn, south Florida; five grandchildren, Reilly, Cullen, Dillon, Brigid and Fiona, all of Bloomington; brothers Brendan (Jane), Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Daniel (Luisa) of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters, Catherine Flynn, Litchfield, Ill., and Sister Mary Flynn, Springfield, Ill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Riley, Robert and Stephen Schwab and George, William and Gerald Flynn.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Ill., with Father John Luong officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
