Kokomo — William W. Hunt, 88, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, where he had lived for the past five years with his daughter, Cathy, and her family. He was born in Kokomo on March 8, 1924, the son of the late Emmitt and Goldie (Calicutt) Hunt.

William worked as a shoe repairman for over 50 years and was the owner of Hunt’s Shoe Repair. He enjoyed music greatly, and was an accomplished guitarist. He also loved fishing, old westerns and could fix almost anything he put his mind to. Bill was a Jehovah’s Witness for over 40 years, and an elder in the church for 35 years. Bill always credited his grandfather, who raised him, and most of his siblings, after his parents passed away when Bill was about 7 years of age, of giving him the wealth of experience in raising his own family, which he was very proud of, and a loving grandfather. William married Betty R. Wright on March 15, 1946, in Jeffersonville, and she survives.

William is also survived by his children, Cathy (Mark) Fachini, Michael (Beverly) Hunt, Wesley (Kathy) Hunt and Lori (Randall) Brooker; and five grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Francis, Robert and Emery; two sisters, Jane and Louise; and an infant brother.

There will be a memorial service for William at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1205 Ransdell Court, Lebanon, at 3 p.m. Saturday, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. At a later date, William’s remains will be privately laid to rest in Crown Point Cemetery, Kokomo.
