James “ Jimmy” Lee Grimes 55, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 7, 2013, in his home due to heart complications. Jimmy was born May 11, 1957, to William E. and Freda J. (O’Malley) Grimes.
He attended and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1975. Jimmy was blessed with two children, Mariah Dawn Parson Grimes and Eli James Grimes, who were the “loves of his life.” He was an avid IU basketball fan. He grew up playing baseball at UCT, and continued to play softball in various leagues until his arthritis would not allow it. Jimmy worked at Chrysler, Fortune Management, Chemlawn and recently umpired NSA.
He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Mariah; son, Eli; father, William; sisters, Patricia “Patty” Lindsay and Debbie (Bob) Hill; nieces and nephews, Heather, Alexander Vincent, Bridget (Scott) Swing, Robbie (Azeneth) Dockermeyer, Jared Alexander, Jason Hill, Hillary (Jarred) Summers, Chris (Kayla) Hill and Angelica (Brad) Hodges; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Freda Grimes; brother, Danny Grimes; brother-in-law, Bobbie Joe Lindsay; and nephew, Brian O. Vincent.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Chuck Griffith officiating. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
