Jerry L. Gordon

Jerry L. Gordon, 86, Winter Haven, Fla., passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, in Tampa, Fla. Born in Kokomo, he was the son of Ralph and Georgie Gordon of Kokomo.

He volunteered for the Army in 1944 and served as an army sergeant in World War II. After the war, Jerry was employed with Haynes Stellite Division of UCC and served as a city councilman in Kokomo. He moved to Danville, Ill., where he was the owner of Glo Motel and Pancake House. Jerry moved to Winter Haven in 1979 where he was the owner of Cypress Gardens Mobile Home Park and was a deacon at Winter Haven Christian Church.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Ann; brother, Gilbert (Delores), Lakeland, Fla.; nephews in Oklahoma and Colorado; nieces in Oklahoma, Indiana and Florida; and cousins in Kokomo.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday at Rolling Hills Cemetery, Winter Haven. The service will be officiated by Pastor James Reed of Winter Haven Christian Church.
