— William J. Buchmiller, 87, Clearwater, Fla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, under the loving care of his family and hospice. He was born March 23, 1924, in Greenville, Ill., and lived most of his life in Kokomo.
Bill owned Buchmiller Oil on Morgan Street in Kokomo for many years. He moved to Spring Hill, Fla., in 1989, and in 2007 to Clearwater. He was a faithful Christian, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dad/Poppa was a very honest, caring and patient man who will be missed dearly by his family. Bill served in the Army during World War II and was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and the Elks.
Survivors include his sister, Jean Marti, Carlyle, Ill.; his children, Judy Buchmiller-Lowe, Fayetteville, N.C., Michael Buchmiller and wife Kristen, Lafayette, Kathy Buchmiller and her partner, Carolyn Kostera, Galloway, N.J., and Cynthia Pratt Brown, Clearwater, Fla.; stepson, Michael Pratt and wife Michelle, the Ukraine; six grandchildren, Rodney Dilling, Christopher Pyle, Amie Buchmiller-Blumling, Sara Lowe-Dumond, Ian Brown and Kayli Brown; five step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. Buchmiller and Helen (Taylor) Buchmiller; his wives, Margie Britton Buchmiller and Marilyn Buchmiller; and his brother, Bob Buchmiller.
A Celebration of his life is 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 700 E. Southway Blvd., Kokomo. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. A dinner will be served after the service.
