THOMAS E. FONTAINE

Feb. 9, 1926 - Oct. 6, 2012

Thomas E. Fontaine, 86, Greentown, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Kindred Healthcare. He was born on Feb. 9, 1926, in Indianapolis, to the late Kilbourne W. and Katherine (Grethen) Fontaine.

Thomas attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. After his studies, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served in World War II and the Korean War, earning several military medals during his service. After returning home from the war, he began working in the construction business. Designing and building homes, he established his own construction business.

Not only was Thomas a favorable craftsman with his hands, but he was a champion ballroom dancer. Winning all kinds of awards as a dancer, including Mid-West United States Dance Champion, he enjoyed competing and entertaining with his talent. Due to popular demand in his later years, he graced the dance floor often at Lutz’s Steakhouse in Noblesville.

Surviving is his beloved wife of more than 25 years, Jeanie; his two sons, Tom (Mary) Fontaine, Indianapolis, and Mark Edward Fontaine, Indianapolis.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Kilbourne “Babe” Fontaine and Katherine Dixon.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Brad Swain officiating. Military rites will be provided by the United States Navy and the local VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
