Dorothy E. Thompson

Nov. 27, 1921 - Nov. 15, 1012

Dorothy Elizabeth Thompson, 90, died at 1:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Sterling House of Kokomo. She was born Nov. 27, 1921, to John W. and Daisy Opal (Morris) Roadruck in Morocco. On May 10, 1946, she married James V. Thompson, who preceded her in death on April 14, 1985.

She graduated from Morocco High School, and continued her education studying nursing at Purdue University receiving her degree from Home Hospital in Lafayette. She retired from Chrysler in 1992 as a plant nurse, and had also worked at St. Joseph, Howard and White County hospitals in nursing.

Her memberships included the Eastern Star chapter 89, Morocco Alumni Association, Elks, Moose, Eagles, and American Legion. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and playing cards with friends.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen J. Thompson and his partner, Dea K. Reeves, Sharpsville, Peter J. Thompson and his wife, Sherry L., Kokomo; grandchildren, Lisa A. Thompson and Jason L. Thompson; sister, Ruth Mistron, Barefoot Bay, Fla., as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Jane Sonnet; and second husband, Junior Martin.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Chaplain Brent Kirby officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Gardens.
