Betty Jean Hodson, 79, Galveston, passed away at 4:07 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born April 17, 1933 in Wawpecong to the late Ira and Stella (Jackson) Glassburn. On May 1, 1951, she married James A. Hodson. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2000.
Betty was a homemaker as well as a business owner. She was a 50-year member of Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church.
Surviving is a daughter, Judy A. Hodson Bilby, Kokomo; son, Thomas D. Hodson, Galveston; three grandchildren, Ashley Brettin and husband, Robert, Kokomo, Daniel Hodson, Windfall, and Michael Hodson, Windfall; one great-grandchild, Alexis L. Shelley, Kokomo; and one sister-in-law, Janet Glassburn, Wawpecong. She also helped raise Buddy Glen Glassburn, who is deceased, Susie Shuck, Sharpsville, Gary Mote, Walton, Kathy Evans, Indianapolis, and Patty Anderson, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Gerald Glassburn, Clyde and Ester Glassburn, and Edwin “Buddy” Glassburn; and two sisters, Mary Lou and Raymond Mote Jr., and Willadean Glassburn.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church, 13048 S. C.R. 400 West, Kokomo, with Pastor Russell Veldman and Pastor Jack Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murray Weaver Funeral home, 401 S. California St., Galveston.
