The Rev. George Miller Davis, 87 years young, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., died and received his heavenly birthday on Dec. 13, 2012, at the Hospice House in the John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit, Mo.
A requiem memorial Mass will be offered for Fr. Davis at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lee’s Summit (416 S.E. Grand Ave.), Mo., at 2 p.m. Jan. 9, with a reception to follow, with Fr. Mark McGuire presiding. A requiem funeral Mass will be celebrated as well at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Kokomo (602 W. Superior St.), at 11 a.m. Jan. 12, with a family visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., with Bishop Ed Little presiding.
Fr. Davis was born Jan. 14, 1925, to Miller Abbot Davis and Johnnie Bird (Hines) Davis in Broken Bow, Okla. He received a B.S. (1949) and a M.Ed. (1955) both from the University of North Texas. Following a brief teaching career, he studied at General Theological Seminary in New York City and was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church in 1959 and a priest in 1960. He served as the vicar of St. Mark’s Church in Arlington, Texas (1959-1960), vicar of St. Laurence Church in Grapevine, Texas (1959-1960), vicar of Good Shepherd Church and college chaplain in Wichita Falls, Texas (1961-1967), assistant rector of Trinity Church in Fort Wayne (1967-1973), and as rector of St. Andrew’s Church in Kokomo (1973-1991).
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the medical corps and saw action particularly at the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a chaplain for much of his ministerial life with the Fraternal Order of Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Davis, of the home; four children, Frank Davis, Houston, Texas, Bill Davis, Houston, Texas, Marynell Townsend and husband Terry, Cambridge, Ohio, and Adam Davis and wife Jenn, Las Vegas, Nev.; four stepchildren, David Johnson and wife Janie, Jefferson City, Mo., Bruce Johnson and wife Bobbie, Ashburn, Va., Douglas Johnson and wife Sue, Independence, Mo., and Anne O’Leary and husband Mark, Zionsville. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Betty and Carol, and also by his stepson Brian and wife Cecile.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be directed to either St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 416 S.E. Grand Ave., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063 or St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior St., Kokomo, IN 46901.

Denver R. Walker
Denver R. Walker, 61, Kokomo, formerly of Ridge Farm, Ill., passed away at 6:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Century Villa Health Care. He was born Nov. 1, 1951, in Danville, Ill., the son of Denver Ralph and Sarah (Walthall) Walker. On June 7, 1997, he married Cynthia L. “Cindy” Hultz from Veedersburg, and she survives him.

George Frederick “Fred”Bagwell, 79, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family. He is now at rest with his Heavenly Father, whom he loved and served. Fred was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Kokomo, to the late Emmett and Dorothy (Clark) Bagwell. He graduated from Kokomo High School.

Christine “Granny” “Mother Goose” Cornelia Ligon, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Baron Plain, Tenn., the daughter of the late Tommy and Laura (Turner) King. On July 21, 1934, Christine married Timothy Calvin Ligon Jr. and they were happily married until his passing on Nov. 3, 1956.

Delores Mae Spicer, on May 16, 2013, at the age of 81, gently passed this life in her sleep and was reunited with her husband Jack Wayne Spicer Sr., her Heavenly Father, her Savior, and her beloved son Jerry Dana Spicer.
