Robert L. Taylor

Robert L. Taylor, 93, Kokomo, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Caring Hands Nursing Home, Peru. He was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Lascassas, Tenn., to Robert L. Taylor Sr. and Daisy Mae (Fuller) Taylor. He was married Oct. 29, 1939, in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to  Mary S. (Smith) Taylor, who survives.    

He owned and operated Taylor Construction Co. in Kokomo for 25 years, retiring in 1965. After retiring, they moved to Tennessee and he was an entrepreneur. He served as a magistrate in Rutherford County, Tenn.     

He was a member of Howard Masonic Lodge 93 F&AM. He was very proud to be a 32nd degree Mason. He was an avid bowler and golfer. In his earlier years, he had his pilot’s license and loved to fly. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved his wife of 73 years and his family.

Surviving are his wife, Mary S. Taylor, Peru; daughters, Robbie M. Collett, Galveston, and Lynda L. (Jerry) DeHaven, Bunker Hill; son, Bertrand “Skip” L. (Janet) Taylor, Nolensville, Tenn.; grandchildren, James C. (Lori) Prosser, Crawfordsville, Nora L. (Roger) Greeson, Kokomo, Robert L. Collett, Union City, Calif., Kristen D. Collett, Bridger, Mont., Cathy (Todd) Kelsey, Yoder, Ashlee (Mickey) Judkins, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jennifer Lee Jackson, Decatur, Ala.; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Bell, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Douglas (Willie) Taylor, Lascassas, Tenn.; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Vance, Kokomo.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with Pastor Evan Strong, of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery, Kokomo. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston.

Robert Michael Rivers

Robert Michael Rivers, 43, Marion, died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, with the Rev. Jeff Schaffer officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.eddyfuneralhomes.com.
