Cherie Kathleen Mahaney

Jan. 17, 1928 - Jan. 25, 2013

Cherie Kathleen Mahaney, 85, Tipton, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at her home. She was born Jan. 17, 1928 in Tipton to Charles O. and Ruth V. (Lewis) Tidler. On March 6, 1948, Cherie was married to Paul Mahaney in Bowling Green, Ky., and he passed away Feb. 28, 1973.

Cherie attended Tipton area schools and Heartland Ministries Church in Sharpsville. In her spare time she enjoyed attending church, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed weekly family get-togethers with her brothers and sisters. Cherie’s previous employers include Oakes Manufacturing, Pioneer, Firestone, Hoosier Café, Northside Café and Stokely Van Camp.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth and wife Mary Mahaney, Richard Mahaney, Joe and wife Geraldine Mahaney, and a daughter-in-law, Paula Mahaney, all of Tipton; siblings, Morris Tidler, Phillip J. Tidler, David Tidler, Garry Tidler, Evelyn Johnson and Emma Hartley; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Betty Bray and her husband Ronnie; a son, Dennis Mahaney; two daughters-in-law, Vickie Mahaney and Kathy Mahaney; siblings, Bill Tidler Sr., Margaret Long and Donna Epps; and a granddaughter, Sarah Rich.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home, 726 E. North St., Tipton, with Pastor Bill Salsbery officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.
