Leo W. Stokes

Oct. 23, 1931 - Feb. 12, 2013

Leo W. Stokes, 84, Russiaville, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away at 2:04 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1931, to William A. and Thelma (Polk) Stokes in Kokomo. Leo was married to Donna Lee (Carey) and she preceded him, Rissie J. (Odgen) on June 29, 1957, and she passed away Nov. 22, 1998, and Mary Jane (Marshall-Pavey) on June 24, 2003, and she survives.

Leo worked for Stellite Corp. for 23 years and retired in 1977. Then he worked for Chrysler Corp. for 13 years and retired for a second time in 1990.

He was a 1949 Kokomo High School graduate. Leo was a member of Russiaville Community Church, Boyleston Baptist Church and Judson Baptist Church. He was a member of UAW Local 685, and a member of the Naphtali Center Masonic Lodge. Leo was in the Tipton County amateur radio club and amateur radio K9WQJ.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Stokes; daughters, Carol Lyn (Alan) Brundege, St. Louis, Mo., Marhtea Ann Christopher, Kokomo, Marcia (Terry) Brantley, Sharpsville, Paula (Mike) Mickaels, Loudonville, Ohio; son, Larry (Marci) Sharp, Kokomo; stepson, Bill (Jan) Pavey, Kokomo; stepdaughter, Linda (Ron) Maloney, Kokomo; daughter in-law, Connie Pavey, Kokomo; brother, Kenneth (Ceilia) Stokes, Kokomo; several grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma Stokes; wives, Donna Lee and Rissie J.; stepson, John Pavey; and brother, Michale J. Stokes.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Bill Martin officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sharpsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Russiaville Community Church.
