Robert L. Nicholson

June 12, 1954 - July 30, 2007

Robert L. Nicholson, 53, Greentown, died 8:15 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo. He was born June 12, 1954, in Marion to Lowell and Esther Mae (Lawrence) Nicholson. On Dec. 21, 2000, he married Jennifer Woods and she survives.

He was a math teacher and started his career at Tipton High School and then worked at Eastern High School in Greentown, where he coached basketball and track and was the voice of the Fighting Comets football team.

Bob was a member of Jerome Christian Church and sang with his brothers in the Singing Nicholson's Gospel Quartet from 1975 to 1994, and later with the Joyful Noise group from 1995 to the present.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny, daughter, Michelle Monize and husband Chad, Greentown; son, Robert Todd Nicholson and wife Micah, Salisbury, Md.; his father and step-mother Lowell Nicholson and Wilda, Greentown; and two brothers, Paul Nicholson and wife Kim and Gary Nicholson and wife Sally, all of Greentown. He has five grandchildren, Luke, Drew, Evan, and Gabriel Monize and Grace Nicholson.

His mother, Esther Mae, and brother, Walt, are deceased.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, at Jerome Christian Church , 9535 E. 100 South Greentown, with Kendall Faull officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11a.m. Friday, all at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Stanton W. Nicholson Scholarship Fund, c/o First Farmers Bank, 603 W. Main St. Greentown, IN 46936. Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, is in charge of the arrangements.
