Eldon D. Shrock, 97, Amboy, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at Millers Merry Manor, Peru. He was born Jan. 7, 1911, in Miami County, the son of Elmer J. and Nora Troyer Shrock. Eldon married Marjorie Stevens Shrock in Huntington, on March 31, 1934, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 1996.
Eldon graduated from Amboy High School in 1929, and was employed as a mill foreman at the Amboy Grain Co. until his retirement in 1975.
Elson was a life-long Miami County resident and he and his wife, Marjorie, lovingly raised four children. A man of great faith and integrity, he was an active member of the Amboy Friends Church. He was also a life member of the Marion Moose Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Dunn and her husband, Norman, Peru; sons, James Shrock and wife Judy, Albion, Larry Shrock and wife Pam, Peru, and Michael Shrock and wife Susanna, Swayzee; grandchildren, Jason Shrock and wife Karen, Joel Shrock and wife Kelly, James Shrock and wife Rachael, Judy Bender and husband Troy, Joseph Dunn and wife Toni, Julie Dunn, Steven Dunn and wife Beth, Kathy Lesley and husband Bruce, Crystal Ribble, Jeff Shrock, Chad Shrock and Scott Novak, Aaron Shrock and wife Angie, Stacia Wegert and husband Eric; stepgrandchildren, Michael Taylor and wife Tiffianey and Meredith Dittfield and husband Shane; 31 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
A service celebrating the life of Eldon D. Shrock will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Amboy Friends Church, 110 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Amboy, with burial in the Park Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Laird Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Amboy Friends Church.

Dana George Askren, 61, Windfall and formerly of Kokomo, Tipton and Mount Vernon, Ky., died early Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at his residence. He was born Aug. 27, 1950, in Elwood to George M. and Margaret (Ogden) Askren. He married Judith Faye Bradshaw in 1975.

Donald R. Jerrels, Sr., 75, Peru, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo. He was born April 23, 1936, in Dugger, to James and Mary (Buckner) Jerrels. On Nov. 20, 1989, he married Marcia Miller, and she survives.

William J. Buchmiller, 87, Clearwater, Fla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, under the loving care of his family and hospice. He was born March 23, 1924, in Greenville, Ill., and lived most of his life in Kokomo.

David Gibson Beard
David Gibson Beard, 64, Kokomo passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Samuel and Claudia (Walker) Gibson. He was one of three sons born to this union, including Samuel Jr. and Devere. After the death of their parents and grandparents, the boys were adopted by Earl Nathan and Gladie Lee Beard, Kokomo.

Mabel Berniece Shaw, 97, Greentown, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Century Villa Nursing Home, Greentown. Berniece was born in Cyclone on Nov. 1, 1914, to the late William and Margaret Benge. She married Alton Leroy Show on April 6, 1933, in Kokomo. Alton preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2003.
