Donal R. Donahue

Oct. 12, 1928 - July 1, 2009

Donal R. Donahue, 80, Portland and Logansport, peacefully passed at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Chase Center Nursing Home, Logansport. He was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Howard County, to Cappie and Mildred (Ammerman) Donahue. He married Sue Brown on Sept. 3, 1954, in Elwood. She preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 1998.

He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and proudly displayed several flags. He was a lifetime member of the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. He was also involved with the March of Dimes and Civil Defense. He provided for his family by working at Westinghouse, Teledyne Portland Forge and the sheriff department. He was a generous man, who especially loved to share candy.

He was the dad to Donald C. and wife Andi Donahue, Jonesbourgh, Tenn., Denise Donahue Nugent, Tell City, Tina and Kent Moss, Galveston, Chris Allen Donahue, who preceded him in death in December 1960; Lisa Donahue, Portland, Samantha Donahue, Logansport, and Penny and Dave Hadley, Lafayette. He was grandpa to Sarah and Michael, Peter, Hannah, Tom, Sophia, Mara, Zach, Michelle, Jessica, Jeremy, Mark and Amber, Bethany, Alex, Chris, Lauren, Ethan, and Grant; and great-grandpa to Taylor, Dakota, Annie, Trevor, and Landon. He was brother to Evelyn Carlile, Melvin Donahue, Albert (Lois) Donahue, and Betty (Bob) Sites Gillam. He also leaves behind his special friend, Sharon Haines.

The family sends a special thank you to the staff at Chase for providing loving care to dad. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sue, one son, Chris Allen Donahue, and a grandson, Andrew.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel, 401 S. California St., Galveston, with the Rev. Karen Koelsch officiating. Burial is at Galveston Cemetery, Galveston, with graveside military honors. Friends may call 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, 208 N. Commerce St., Portland, and noon until service time Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston.

Memorial contributions may be made to March of Dimes and to the family to help with the cost of funeral expenses.

    William M. “Bill” Sutton Sr., 94, Tipton, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor. He was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Matthews, to Omar and Tessie Mae (Cunningham) Sutton. On Jan. 12, 1944, he married Mae Ritenour and she survives.

    David Jermaine Jackson, 38, Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital. David was born Feb. 18, 1973, the son of Nathaniel Stiggers and Clemtine Jackson, in Lima, Ohio. He was employed as an assembler at Bona Vista. He was a member of Great Faith Ministries and loved the Lord. He was a longtime karate student, having achieved the status of green belt, and was an avid bowler. He loved basketball and was a longtime participant in Special Olympics. He also attended the social club sponsored by the Mental Health Association of Howard County.

Mrs. Squibb was born March 2, 1948, in Orange County, to Robert Dale and Mary Marguerite (Knowles) Owen and lived in Knox for six years, coming from Sharpsville. On Dec. 13, 1986, in Burlington, she was married to the Rev. Ray Squibb, who survives.
