Noble Charles Earl Name

Feb. 2, 1929 – July 5, 2009

Noble Charles Earl Name, 80, Kokomo, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. Born Feb. 2, 1929, in Kokomo, he is the son of the late William Harrison Name and Cleo Madeline (Wiles). On May 5, 1948 in Kokomo, he married Edith Anna Jewell, and she survives.

He was employed with the Chrysler Transmission Plant for 43 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local No. 685 and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Name, Kokomo; five sons, Skip (Sandy) Name, Alpine, Utah, Stephen A. Name, Kokomo, John L. (Kate) Name, Sheridan, Bill (Carla) Name, Kokomo, and Tim J. Name, Kokomo; one daughter Ginger (Kirk) Alderfer, Rockmart, Ga.; one brother, Dewey O. (Lulubell) Name, Homasassa, Fla.; two sisters, Jody Pratt, Ocala, Fla., and Freida Miller, Marion; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including Edith Lock, Bill Name, Ruthanne Morgan, all of Kokomo, Misty Davis, Noblesville, and Mitasha Mesaros, Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 332 W. 300 South, Kokomo. Bishop Dee Marler will officiate. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Kathy A. Name Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the Community Foundation of Howard County, 202 N. Main St., Kokomo, IN 46901. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary. Online condolences may be sent to the family at ellersmortuary.com.
