Jack O. Harness, 72, Sharpsville, passed away at 1:17 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in Howard Regional Health System. He was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Kokomo, to Coyd and Juanita (Reynolds) Harness. On Jan. 20, 1956, in Kokomo, he married Janet S. (Newton) and she survives.

Jack was a truck driver for 10 years with Associated Truck Lines. He enjoyed fishing, camping and NASCAR racing. He also loved to drive his semis and trucks.

Surviving are his wife, Janet S. Harness, Sharpsville; mother, Juanita Young, Kokomo; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Osborne, Kokomo; sons, Curtis A. Harness and William R. Harness, both of Kokomo; four granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Rebecca Hoover, Kokomo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Coyd Harness; and a sister, Kathryn Fortune.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with the Rev. Keith Cramer officiating. Burial will take place at Nevada Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be given to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
