John A. McCoy

John A. McCoy, 52, Galveston, went home to be with the Lord at 12:36 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo. He was born Aug. 10, 1957, in Kokomo, to Alan and Marjorie (Naphew) McCoy. On Feb. 23, 1974, in Galveston, he married Linda (Darland) McCoy, who survives.

He worked for Chrysler LLC in production for 11 years. He graduated from Lewis Cass High School in 1975. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 685 and the Galveston First Baptist Church, where he played bass guitar. He enjoyed fishing and playing bass guitar.

He is survived by his wife; son, Andrew J. McCoy, Galveston; daughter, Angela (McCoy) Archer, Galveston; four grandchildren, Danielle, Jeremy, Savannah and Jacob; his parents; a mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Marilyn Darland, Kokomo; sister Beth and Neil Rouch, Galveston; uncles, Mark and Kathleen Naphew, Walton, and Jim and Bessie McCoy, Young America, and aunt, Sharon and Earl Nelson, Kokomo.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Paul McCoy, in July 1998.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Galveston, 207 S. Sycamore St., Galveston. The Rev. Warren Purcell will officiate. Burial is at a later date. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
