Chris G. Kleiber, 67, Kokomo, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Kokomo, to Charles Kleiber and Anna K. (Poppas) Kleiber. On Sept. 15, 1979, he married Sandra Farrington, and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, achieving the rank of sergeant first class, before retiring in 1990. He worked at Kokomo Pottery, Martinos, Chrysler and as a night auditor.
In addition to his wife, Sandra Kleiber, he is survived by one brother, Kerry (Carol) Kleiber; one step-brother, Jack (Myra) Swanner; aunts, Dorothy Mast, Spring Valley, Calif., Freda Tranbarger, Las Gatos, Calif., Wilhelmine Warren, St. Petersburg, Fla., Grace (Dale) Kingseed, Kokomo, Bea (Mayo) Nielsen, San Antonio, Texas, Vanetta (George) Beckman, Fort Pierce, Fla., Phoebe (Henry) Carter, Kokomo, Lavelle (Willie) Lawman, Kokomo, and Carrie Graber, Kokomo; uncles, George Poppas Jr., Albuquerque, N.M., John (Marianne) Poppas, Piedmont, Calif., Tom (Betty) Poppas, Kokomo, Bob (Eunice) Miller, Zephyr Hills, Fla., and Don (Betty) Farrington, Kokomo; one niece, one nephew, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother-in-law, several aunts and uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Main Street United Methodist Church, with Pastor Nancy Blevins officiating. Inurnment will take place in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church Roof Fund, 830 Main St., Kokomo, IN 46901. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.mem.com.
