John K. Hall, 82, Kokomo, died at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Howard Regional Health System.
He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Paris, Ill., the son of Thomas “Tom” Eldredge and Virginia Olive “Jennie” (Myers) Hall. On Aug. 30, 1953, he married Rowene Higbee of Kokomo, who preceded him in death in 1994.
John was a 1952 graduate of Butler University, with a degree in business administration. While at Butler, he played on the basketball team and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Indianapolis for 31 years in the marketing and data processing departments, retiring in December 1983. He also was the self designated “head loafer” at Southside Marathon Service Station since 1956. His memberships included Telephone Pioneers and Kokomo Elks Lodge 190.
John is survived by one son, Dr. Matthew D. Hall, Seward, Alaska; one daughter, Cynthia “CeCe” Busche, and her husband Martin, Evansville; two grandchildren, Christina Busche and Thomas Busche; one sister, Catherine Henry, Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services celebrating John’s life are 4 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Kyle Dahlquist officiating. Private entombment will take place Monday at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends 1 p.m. until service time Sunday.
