Michael R. Hessee, 66, Kokomo, passed away at 5:13 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo. Born March 26, 1943, in Gainesville, Mo., he was adopted with both his mothers and fathers preceding him death. On July 7, 1972, in Kokomo, he married Connie (Kohne), who survives him. He was a manager at Goodyear Tire Co. for 10 years; worked 17 years at Nestles; then retired from Syndicate Sales in 2006 after eight years of service.

Mike enjoyed fishing, was a football fan, liked antique cars and reciting poetry.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Connie Hessee, Kokomo; three sons, Tim, Ohio, Mike and Randy, both of Missouri, from a previous marriage; one daughter, Julie, Nevada; and his mother-in-law, Mildred, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by parents; one sister Joy; and one grandson, Joe.

Mike’s favorite saying was “When the great scorer comes to write against your name, he writes not that you won or lost, but how you played the game”

There is no public services or visitation. Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel is handling arrangements.

Helen Louise Brown, 85, Kokomo, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was the daughter of Edna and George Seitz, Walkerton. On Dec. 19, 1948, at Walkerton Methodist Church, she married Milton Brown, who survives. Helen and Milt were married for more than 63 years.

Mary Edith (Knight) Ratcliff, 93, Kokomo, died at 11:11 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at her home, where she had been cared for by her family. She was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Clinton County. She was one of three daughters born to the late Evert and Edith (Finney) Knight. On July 4, 1939, she married Chester Ratcliff who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1977.
