Ollie Lee Shaver, 86, Spiceland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Glen Oaks Health Campus following an extended and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Dec. 17, 1922, in New Castle, to the late Arthur and Mary Myrtle (Bostic) Sparks.
She retired from Firestone following 15 years of service. Ollie was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Spiceland and a former member of the VFW ladies auxiliary. Ollie was a former Honorary Caregiver Award recipient and enjoyed helping people, especially the elderly by taking them to doctor’s appointments, the grocery, or visiting with them in nursing homes. She also loved to joke and laugh.
She is survived by her daughters Carolyn (husband Gary) Boles, Leoma, Tenn., Saundra “Sandy” Smith, Anderson, Vicki (husband Mike) New, Spiceland; her best friend and sister, Lillie Bundy, New Castle, Betty Jones, Florida, Dorothy Larrison, New Castle; grandchildren James (Belinda) Leveridge, Noblesville, Cheryl (Jim) Boles, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Christy (Russell) Campbell, Noblesville, Jackie Smith, Anderson, Lisa Orr, Anderson, Wendy Bennington, Joe (January) New, Springport, Cynthia Herron, New Castle, Tina (Richard) Rice, Glenda Lee, Toni (Russell) McDorman, Robert Lee III, all of Kokomo; 26 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Lee Jr.; her first husband, Robert Lee Sr.; her second husband, Walter Shaver; a brother, Claude Sparks; a sister, Beulah Prewitt; and an infant sister.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Jay Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Helen Louise Brown, 85, Kokomo, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was the daughter of Edna and George Seitz, Walkerton. On Dec. 19, 1948, at Walkerton Methodist Church, she married Milton Brown, who survives. Helen and Milt were married for more than 63 years.

She was one of three daughters born to the late Evert and Edith (Finney) Knight. On July 4, 1939, she married Chester Ratcliff who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1977.
