Thomas E. Bozard, 78, Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 9, 1931, in Kokomo, to John Clarence and Lillian (Summers) Bozard. On June 5, 1946, he married Norma Jean Boone, and she survives.
He worked at Hoosier Iron for 13 years. He was a self-employed electrician for many years and worked on numerous homes and businesses in Howard County. Woodworking was something he truly enjoyed and he created many pieces for friends and family. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. He especially loved his “pickin’ and grinnin’ friends” and listening to them make music. He was a member of Eagles 255.
In addition to his wife, Jean Bozard, he is survived by four children, Rebecca (Leonard) Lastovica, Danny Bozard, Yvette (David) Longfellow, and Virginia Lawson; one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Bozard, Galveston; one brother, Paul (Pam) Bozard; four sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Bozard, Lafayette, Neoshia Bozard, Phoenix, Joyce Wilgus, and Jacquelyn Hood of Kokomo; 10 grandchildren, Richard (Marie) Bozard, Spangdahlem AFB, Germany, Malissa (Todd) Lowe, Galveston, Mark (Melanie) Bozard, Malinda (Jim) Webster, Amanda Lastovica, Eric Bozard, Brittiny Lawson, Stewart Longfellow, and Logan Lawson, all of Kokomo, and Evan (Tabby) Bozard, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Glen Bozard, Elmer Bozard, and Wanda McVay; one son, Glen "Butch" Bozard; and two grandchildren, Melanie and Casey Longfellow.
The funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Lillian Elias officiating. Entombment is at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or We Care. She was one of three daughters born to the late Evert and Edith (Finney) Knight. On July 4, 1939, she married Chester Ratcliff who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1977.
