Don Wesley Sedberry, 63, Windfall, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at his residence. He was born June 3, 1946, in Abilene, Texas, to Alton Eloise and Dorothy Bell (Hutchens) Sedberry. On April 27, 1985, he married Carolyn Fitch, in Sharpsville, and she survives. He was raised, along with his siblings, in Abilene, Texas, at the Hendrick Home for Children.
He took great pride in his work and earned his journeyman license and served his apprenticeship while he was a member of Plumber and Steam Fitters Union Local 440. He later worked for Delco for 34 years before retiring in 2006. He served in the United States Navy Submarine Service from 1963 to 1967. He was a member of UAW Local 292, former union rep and chairman for skilled trades, member of the Arbor Tree Foundation, lifetime member of the NRA, and former member of the Order of the Free Masons and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and all outdoor activities. He was very patriotic and loved American history and the old west. He also loved bluegrass music and played the banjo and guitar.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn Sedberry, he is survived by two daughters, Wendy Orvis, North Little Rock, Ark., and Tiffany Sedberry, Windfall; three sons, Anthony Meiring, Indianapolis, Todd (Danielle) Meiring, Gaston, and Don Sedberry, Jr., Kokomo; five grandchildren, Nick Orvis, Mistie Orvis, Cheyenne Meiring, Mason Meiring, and Trenton Meiring; one sister, Connie (Glenn) Weddle, Dewey, Ariz.; two brothers, Ronnie (Sandy) Sedberry, Phoenix, Ariz., and Larry (Mavis) Sedberry, Cottonwood, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service is 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Rev. Tennyson Fitch officiating. Burial is at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
