Fred R. Burnette, 84, Forest, died at 4:54 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at the home of his niece at Forest. He was born April 1, 1925, in Luttrell, Tenn., the son of Willis and Sylvia (Wolfenbarger) Burnette.

On Feb. 9, 1946, in Kokomo, he married Lavaun “Bonnie” (Smith) Burnette, who survives. He retired from Continental Steel Corp., after 35 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Lavaun “Bonnie” Burnette, Forest; three sisters, Ruby Wolfenbarger, Pauline Johnson, Louise Oaks; three brothers, Verlin Burnette, Carl Burnette, Denny Burnette; a special niece, Markeeta (Mike) Murphy; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Chaplain Evan Strong will officiate. Burial is at Union Cemetery near Forest. Friends and family may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
