Norma J. Harpst

March 14, 1930 - Nov. 29, 2009

Norma Jean (Neibarger) Harpst, 79, Kokomo, passed away 8:18 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, in St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born March 14, 1930, in rural Greentown. She was born to the late Clayton Wood and Opal (Dennison) Irwin. She married Richard E. Harpst, who preceded her in death Oct. 21, 2003. She retired from Delco Electronics in the late 1980s. She attended Union Township School and loved spending time with family.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Binder and husband, Jon, Greentown, and Karen Dockemeyer and husband, Bob, Kokomo; grandchildren and spouses, Brian and Haley Dockemeyer, Sherri and Matthew Piekarski, Jon Binder Jr., and Matthew Binder; six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Dockemeyer, Mia and Joey Piekarski, Kyndal and Eric Binder; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James E. Irwin and wife, Kathy, Kokomo, and Richard Irwin, of Arizona; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Morris Sprong, Greentown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Marlene Kyler and Judith Strasser.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Phlox. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of her husband Richard, with envelopes provided at the mortuary.
