Oscar Hall, 86, Kokomo, died at 5:31 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. Born June 12, 1923, in Viper, Ky., he is the son of the late Kirby Hall and Ada (Adams). In 1943, in Spartanburg, S.C., he married Arminta (Bush), and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2004.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army for 22 years in the 504th Airborne Infantry, 187th, 188th and 189th Airborne, serving in World War II in the Asian-Pacific Campaign, Korea, also in Lebanon, receiving five bronze stars, among other awards. He was part of the original formation of the 11th Airborne and was also in the 82nd Airborne, and retired from the 82nd Airborne. He then was employed with Kokomo Lumber for 37 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Johnnie (Virginia) Hall, Galveston, Doyle Hall, Kokomo, Lowell (Mary) Hall, Greentown; two daughters, Millie (John) McKinney and Ada Walters, both of Kokomo; two brothers, Eugene (Othell) Hall, Kentucky, and John (Odessa) Hall, Illinois, and one sister, Thelma Odum, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Arlie and Steve Hall; three sisters, Aleen Renneger, Martha Eldersveld and Bessy Baker.
There is no public visitation or services.
