Michael L. Couch, 66, Kokomo, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his residence. Michael L Couch was born on Aug. 1, 1946, the son of Robert Couch and Helen E. Long Guynn in Kokomo.
He was employed as a survey engineer for the City of Kokomo. He was a member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, AFSCME and the American Legion Post 177. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
He was a 1964 graduate of Kokomo High School, where he played on the football and track teams and earned his letter in both sports. He also was the assistant coach with the PAL Club for years. He loved fishing and barbecuing for his family.
He was united in holy matrimony to Brenda A. Smith, and they later divorced.
His father preceded him in death.
He is survived by his parents, Winston G. (who raised him since the age of 3) and Helen E. Guynn; daughter, Rachquel Avila, San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughter, Wendy Roberts; stepsons, Gregory Sebree and Troy Coleman; brothers, Marshall L. Couch (Allison), Indianapolis, Marquis A. Guynn (Denorse); four grandchildren, San Antonio, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers, Gregory Sebree and Jay Roberts.
Services will be at noon Friday at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church. Pastor Louis Parham will be the officiant and eulogist. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
