Bill DeVaney, 81, Kokomo, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Waterford Place, Kokomo, after an extended illness. He was born March 31, 1931, in Elwood, the son of Gerald DeVaney and Hazel Bramel DeVaney.
He had resided in Alexandria and Frankton for most of his lifetime, moving to Kokomo in 2010.
Bill had worked at the Monticello Company, formerly of Elwood, for several years. He retired as a utility man from Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson, in 1981 after 31 years of employment. He owned and operated DeVaney’s Bait and Tackle in Alexandria from 1965 to 1981. He was a long time member of the Christian Congregation Church in Alexandria. Bill loved fishing and hunting. He was an expert car mechanic. He was a people person, always honest and goodhearted. He loved his family and was always the No. 1 fan of his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian (McQueen) DeVaney (they were married July 5, 1949); daughters, Cindy DeVaney and Tina Robinson, both of Kokomo; a son, Jerry (Mindy) DeVaney, Alexandria; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Sonia Mort, Frankton; several nieces and nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. Pastor Jerry Young will officiate. Friends may call the Owens Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the services. Cremation will follow the services. Internment of his cremains will take place in the I.O.O.F. Mausoleum in Alexandria at the convenience of the family.

Denver R. Walker
Denver R. Walker, 61, Kokomo, formerly of Ridge Farm, Ill., passed away at 6:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Century Villa Health Care. He was born Nov. 1, 1951, in Danville, Ill., the son of Denver Ralph and Sarah (Walthall) Walker. On June 7, 1997, he married Cynthia L. “Cindy” Hultz from Veedersburg, and she survives him.

George Frederick “Fred”Bagwell, 79, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family. He is now at rest with his Heavenly Father, whom he loved and served. Fred was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Kokomo, to the late Emmett and Dorothy (Clark) Bagwell. He graduated from Kokomo High School.

Christine “Granny” “Mother Goose” Cornelia Ligon, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. She was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Baron Plain, Tenn., the daughter of the late Tommy and Laura (Turner) King. On July 21, 1934, Christine married Timothy Calvin Ligon Jr. and they were happily married until his passing on Nov. 3, 1956.

Delores Mae Spicer, on May 16, 2013, at the age of 81, gently passed this life in her sleep and was reunited with her husband Jack Wayne Spicer Sr., her Heavenly Father, her Savior, and her beloved son Jerry Dana Spicer. Russena Lucile (Maudlin) Comer, 64, Kokomo, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1948, in Kokomo, the daughter of Russell F. and Gayle L. (Garrison) Maudlin. She married Kevin M. Comer Aug. 29, 1970, at Union Street Friends Church, and he survives.
