Alice A. Oakley

June 23, 1918 - March 4, 2013

— Alice A. Oakley, 94, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Zionsville Meadows, Zionsville. Born June 23, 1918, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Sam Speros and Anna (Lenda) Speros. On March 15, 1945, in Baltimore, Md., she married Orville D. Oakley. He preceded her in death in 1996.  

She was employed with Reliance and Accurate Parts, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, Ladies of Charity, St. Jude Family Circle and F.O.P. 78. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and dear aunt. Her smiling face, constant singing and adorable little sayings will be greatly missed and remembered by all.  

Survivors include one sister, Mary Sizelove, Kokomo; two sisters-in-law, Betty Besser, Kokomo, and Betty Speros, Marshall, Ill.; four nieces, Debbie (Ernie) Troski, Noblesville, Susie Moore, Teri (Rod) Marquardt and Tracy (Kyle) Harbour; four nephews, Jim (Gail) Taylor, Butch Besser, Travis (Teresa) Speros and Stacey (Rebecca) Speros; great-nieces and nephews, Nick Troski, Natalie Troski, Jim Taylor, Brandi Taylor, Jess Speros and Clayton Speros; and great-nephew, Quade Speros.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Daniel Joseph Oakley; sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Carl Taylor; one brother, Sam Speros; and one brother-in-law, Robert Sizelove.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West. The Rev. Theodore Dudzinski will celebrate. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Kokomo. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with envelopes available at the church.
