Martha Lou Zirkle

Nov. 21, 1927 - March 12, 2013

Martha Lou Zirkle, 85, Greentown, died at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born Nov. 21, 1927, to Chandler and Audrey (Golding) Keyton. She was married Sept. 22, 1945, to Richard Zirkle. He preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1987.

She was a homemaker, and she also had been a telephone operator in Greentown and was a secretary at Haynes-Stellite Corp. in Kokomo for several years. She was a 1946 graduate of Greentown High School.

She was a member of Christian Life Fellowship. She had been a secretary for the Greentown Alumni Association, served on the board of directors for the Greentown Glass Museum and had been precinct committee person in Greentown for several years.

Surviving are her sons, B. Jan (Judy) Zirkle, Hurst, Texas, and Stan (Benita) Zirkle, Greentown; six grandchildren, Lori Zirkle, Ryan (Kristi) Zirkle, Wesley (Jennie) Zirkle, Stephanie (Keith) Lavin, Stephen (Sarah) Pate and Andrew (Robin) Pate; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Jean (Fred) David, Greentown, Milda J. Cheek, Greentown, and Carol Sue Hensler, Greentown; brother, Darwin C. (Linda) Keyton, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with the Rev. Logan Sparling and Pastor Gary Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, following the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Greentown Glass Museum in the name of Richard Zirkle. Arrangements are being handled by Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, Greentown. Online condolences can be made at www.hasler-stout.com.
